Idol Gives Back
Apr 25th
A very compelling show I’m watching right now. They’ve done a very good thing here, and hopefully those of us who watch week after week will take some action.

A Slight Change…
Apr 25th
Today I made a couple of modifications to my site. Hopefully they are improvements. Just a couple of little minor things, but nice nonetheless:
- The site should (honestly!) load faster now when jumping from page to page. I took some of the information (events, Idol blog, weather, etc.) off of all the other sub-pages, and left it only on the home page. This should seriously help performance.
- Added a “Jaiku” presence badge on the right-hand sidebar of the home page. Jaiku is like twitter. Of course, now I have to describe what twitter is, so why did I say that? Anyway, the idea behind twitter and Jaiku is like an online presence locator. It lets people know if you’re online and what you’re doing. You can update with whatever info you like. I have yet to get Jaiku working with my cell phone and I think twitter would probably work easier, so I’m not committed to Jaiku totally yet. However, it looks to me as if Jaiku has a good grip on the possibilities…
So there. There hasn’t been a whole lot of excitement lately. The kids have had a lot of soccer/T-ball practices and the weather has been nice, so I haven’t been inside enough to post! Not complaining though. I am so glad spring is here!
Best New Show on TV
Apr 16th
Imagine showing up for your high school play totally unprepared, without attending a single practice… Well, maybe you have an idea of what’s gonna happen… they did dress you up in this funky Rock ‘n’ Roll outfit. Woohoo! Rock On!
Now, picture Jason Alexander in the same kind of situation. He’s dressed like Captain Kirk, so he has a decent idea what’s next. But all the other actors in the scene have an agenda, a script, that they will stick to. What do you do? How would you react?
Well, thanks to NBC, we get a glimpse into this freakish world. Thank God You’re Here recently premiered on the Peacock network, and it’s a “can’t miss.”
If you’re familiar with Whose Line Is It Anyway? then the concept of improv comedy is not foreign to you. The key differences between WLIIA? and TGYH being:
- “TGYH” has a script. (Well, a storyline for the other actors to follow, anyway.)
- “WLIIA?” has no props or sets, “TGYH” has both.
- “TGYH” has a different celebrity for each routine, a total of four during one episode.
But what makes TGYH most compelling is watching the celebrities squirm their way through an uncomfortable scene, and watching how some of them thrive off the situation. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t, but that’s the chance you take, and that’s what makes it interesting.
In success or in failure, the scenes on Thank God You’re Here are very entertaining, and they give you an interesting insight to some of your favorite celebrities.
Without Vista drivers…

This is a good mainstream press article about the problems people encounter when upgrading their computers to a new operating system:
