Born this day
Dec 25th
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Merry Christmas to all!
Christmas Time is Here
Dec 22nd
It’s almost time for toys and cheer. And if you hadn’t guessed by now, we went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks tonight.
Don’t listen to the critics. If you enjoyed Alvin and the Chipmunks as a kid, you’ll like this movie as an adult. And if your kids have never heard of them, go and take them to see this movie. They will absolutely enjoy it. The theater was packed with families. I love to see a surprise hit come from nowhere, and I think this is one of them.
Now that the holidays are here, it’s time to relax. Have fun with friends and family. But most importantly, remember the real reason for the season. Keep Jesus in your holiday season, and why not keep him with you the rest of the year too?

2007 LBC Kids Christmas Play
Dec 18th
Here is a video of the kids’ Christmas play from December 15, 2007:
The First Leon
Dec 15th
(or, "Boys, You’re Wrinkling Your Costumes!")
It’s time for the annual Christmas pageant. This year the kids are performing "The First Leon."
The worshipmusic.com website says:
The Brentwood Kids Music Club presents its newest Christmas musical for children, The First Leon. In this charming musical you will see the Christmas story through the eyes of Leon. You see, Leon is… special. Ever since he discovered that his name spelled backwards is Noel, he’s felt called to tell the world the true meaning of Christmas. But when he tries out for every role in the annual pageant, he finds that he’s the only one who doesn’t get a part. Rejected. Now Leon understands better than anyone how Mary and Joseph must have felt when they heard the words, "No room" that night in Bethlehem. Without really trying to, however, Leon does uncover the true meaning of Christmas when he identifies the real Star of Bethlehem.
Well, we will see how this goes. Ryan is "Leon," an understudy, and Allison is "Julie," an angel. There is a lot of dialogue and a lot of music to remember. Hopefully, all will go well this evening.
Got to go. "It’s almost curtain…"
A few slight changes…
Dec 10th
Well, once again, I couldn’t leave well enough alone and I had to mess with this website. Actually, I was getting error messages that I couldn’t resolve, plus I couldn’t upgrade to the latest edition of Wordpress, and I couldn’t get the “pretty permalinks” to work, and, well, basically I had to take the whole site down and bring it back up again from scratch. Whew!
Anyway, I know there are some links that need updated that will currently point you in the wrong direction. And the sidebars aren’t “complete” but I will have it all back soon.
End of a nice run
Dec 1st
Well, it didn’t end like we had hoped. The Mountaineers lost their final game of the regular season tonight to the Pitt Panthers by a score of 13-9. You had to see all the signs pointed that way, didn’t you?
Twelve times this season a top 5 team lost to an unranked team (well, 13 now). And right from the outset, with WVU missing the easy field goals… You just had the sense early on that this was going to be a long night.
Basically, the offensive line could not handle Pitt’s defensive line. That’s what it really boils down to. You can say that “with White, WVU would have won” but I don’t believe that’s true. Even so, you’re a team. You win together, you lose together. One player does not a team make.
There will be a lot of discussion after this one is over, and plenty of disappointment all the way around. But in the end, the team just didn’t get it done tonight.
So we can stop talking national championship, once again, and focus on winning the bowl game.
Thanks for an exciting 2007 season, and the opportunity, at least, to vie for a national title.
