TV Done Right
Jan 28th
There are several good shows on now. I read somewhere on line that “January is the new Fall” and I believe it.
Blame American Idol. Ever since it began its seasons in January (starting with season two) it set the standard for starting a season off in January.
NBC has grown by leaps and bounds recently. The best move they’ve made is making their prime-time shows available for streaming on their website. I missed a few early episodes of Heroes on TV but (thanks to NBC.com) I’m back on track now and am watching every week. Had those shows not been available, I probably wouldn’t be watching, because I can’t stand catching a series in the middle.
And what they’ve done to extend the show to the web is amazing. The Heroes website is full of extra information you’ll only get from NBC.com. They have even introduced a character (known so far only as “Wireless”) on the site that hasn’t yet been in the show…
Beyond that, they’re playing games with us. There are special in-show phone numbers to call, and web applications to fill out. Claire Bennet even has her own myspace page where she discusses her high school life. Great tie-ins to let us learn more about these characters, and make them seem more real, more accessible.
They’ve done an awesome job of jumping into the whole multimedia universe and other networks would do well to take lessons.
Soapbox on MSN
Jan 18th
This is my first MSN Soapbox Video:
Or, it would be. But MSN Soapbox is no longer around. However, I do have the same video on my site now:
It was pulled from a videotape we bought at Walt Disney World in 2003. My favorite thing to watch is Tina’s hair flipping way up over her head as she goes upside down!
Comedy Barn Laughter
Jan 10th
Okay, I just have to add this one. I find this one particularly funny because I went to the Comedy Barn in June of last year.
I read on YouTube that this video has been viewed over 694,000 times since January 1. Amazing.
This proves how contagious laughter is! A lot of people said that he “saved the show” because the comedian was bombing, but I have to tell you that The Comedy Barn show is truly funny from start to finish and contains a good bit of music and dance in between.
Who knows? Maybe they’ll see an increase in business simply because of this video.

01-13-2007 UPDATE: Hey, the video is now up to 964,000 views!
Ryan’s first basketball game
Jan 9th
Ryan had his first Jerry West league basketball game tonight. He didn’t score any points, but he did have a couple of rebounds and maybe an assist. It’s so hard to tell with 5 and 6 year olds! But he did a good job and had a lot of fun.
Here are a couple of pictures. They came from my camcorder, so they are kind of grainy:
Watching the National Championship
Jan 8th
I’m getting sleepy. I’m watching the BCS College Football Championship game between the Florida Gators and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Right now, Florida is winning by 20. I think I’d to see them win, because I would really like the only undefeated team in college football to be Boise State. Who possibly could have predicted that?
I’m really getting into that show Heroes on NBC. However, I do not know if I am on the list. I guess I should be trying to figure that out…
Happy New Year!
Jan 2nd
Welcome to 2007! And the Mountaineers finally won a Gator Bowl yesterday, defeating Georgia Tech 38 to 35.
It’s been back to work and back to school now that the holidays are over. I always wish I had taken more time off during the holidays and spent more time playing games and playing with the kids’ new toys. This year Santa Claus brought the kids a multi-game table:
That’s been the most popular toy this season. And there was also Thrillville and Nicktoons Unite for the PS2. They’ve been fun to play. In fact, I bought a PS2 memory card so that I can save my own games to it, and not have the kids erase it, or overwrite it or something.
