‘Tis the Season

Hello everyone! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here.  I mean, everywhere you go! Okay, enough of that sillyness…

I’ve finally got Vista working well on the Media PC.  Turns out my video card was giving me fits.  I backed off and used a little simple card that doesn’t support the Aero Glass, and things are much better now.  I think I will need a new full system in order to take advantage of all that new graphical fanciness.  But for now Windows Media Center in Vista it looks just fine.

I read on their site that Axcis will be coming out with version 2.7 of Media Center Information Server Pro, and then my “Now Playing on the Media Center” will start working again.  I’ll install it as soon as I get it.

On another front, I think I am going to start buckling down and earning a Microsoft Certification.  It’s something I’ve been mulling over for a while, and I think I could do it.  I just need to brush up and take some practice exams.  From what I remember those questions can be a little tricky!

Really, this is something you just have to see to appreciate. It has taken on a life of its own, kind of like “All Your Base Are Belong To Us” did.

There are even t-shirts with the new catchphrase printed on them.

Hopefully no one was truly “killed” in the incident.

Like a kid again

One of the best things about being a parent is that I now have a good excuse to watch cartoons again.

Of course, cartoons are a little different now than they used to be.  I always used to watch Bugs Bunny on Saturday mornings, and then, if we were lucky, we’d go out to the Middletown Mall and go shopping.  Sometimes we’d even eat at McDonald’s, which was about the only fast food restaurant in town.

Now it seems like we rely on Mickey D’s or Burger King to supply half our meals. But, I’m getting off the topic.

Anyway, Disney-Pixar’s “Cars” was released on DVD today.  We saw it in the theaters and I knew I’d want to pick this one up. I’m a NASCAR fan anyway, so I didn’t need any prodding to go see this one. It was very entertaining for kids and parents alike.

Pick it up if you’ve got kids, and maybe even if you don’t.

Disc 1 is done!

I got disc 1 done of our “england ’97″ adventure. I’m sure it’s going to be three discs total. I need to see if I can find a DVD case that will hold three discs. And I need to make copies and create a web version to post!

So, anyway, like I was saying…

All this stuff going on is driving me crazy. So, last night during the latter part of “the game” I decided to start working on the England ’97 DVD. Well, Disc 1 anyway. It’s probably going to be a Trilogy by the time I’m done with it.

Disc 1 is about an hour and a half long. And I expect the other two to probably be about the same. I was able to edit a little bit out of Disc 1. We went to an American football match in England, and for some reason I recorded like 15 minutes of it. So, I cut a lot out. Just kept the silly stuff and good plays.

It’s hard to decide what background music to put to home movies. I don’t want to clutter it up with effects “just ‘cuz I can.” I want to use it when it looks and feels right. I think I’m doing a good job so far.

Well, that just sucked…

Man, what a beatin’! That was ugly and hard to watch:

West Virginia 34
Louisville 44

My sister-in-law just called, and her husband’s father had called for an ambulance complaining of chest pains. So, please, keep them in your prayers this evening.

Game Nite!

So Number 3 takes on Number 5! Who knows? I think it’s gonna be a fight for both teams.  If WVU can run, they’re in good shape.  That and a little bit of play from the secondary and they can win this game.
